Greetings from Beijing! The expedition to Lhasa, Tibet is winding down, and everyone involved in the latest Lifeline effort agrees that the trip has been a tremendous success. In the past couple of weeks we have been running non-stop in our production of a documentary film which will chronicle the efforts of those in the field who deliver life-saving cardiac care to under-served children around the globe. On behalf of Variety Children's Lifeline we have shot a lot of video and many photos as part of our project. In the coming weeks those images will become available in this space. For the time being, allow me to introduce some new friends. These photos were taken the day before important echo screenings would determine if a given child would be operated on in Lhasa, or if a trip to Beijing was in the cards for a more intensive procedure. Though you'd never guess it, these photos depict children whose congenital heart disease would not allow them to lead a normal, healthy life without medical intervention. Such is the irony of this disease which makes proactive early screening vital to the survival of the afflicted.

But our story has a very happy ending. We are delighted to report that all of these kids have since received the particular procedure which will give them that normal, healthy life. We will add names as we confirm proper spelling!
